I'm not getting any comments, but I am assuming people might be reading this, so I will keep blogging!Today our kids are getting to know there campers better and better which makes life so much easier. You also begin to truly appreciate their unique quirks and peronsalities. It is amazing how much communicating you can do without talking if you truly listen. I met with the kids yesterday and about 85% of them m truly have very difficlut campers. They really weren't complaining though, just a little shell-shocked and overwhelmed. We laughed, prayed together, and shared each other's pain and funny moments. I think we all felt better after being together(isn't that what fellowship is all about?) WE read Psalm 142:3 which says "When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way that I should turn." That kind of says it all. I am going to keep this short and blog more later. I got to sleep about 4:30 am because one camper didn't really sleep the whole night. I will blog more later, I promise. I have one very homesick child, so please pray for that and emotional, physical, and spiritual strength for all here. If you could, send an e-mail or card to some of our kids, that would really help. Okay, here was one of my highs yesterday.
"Two of my campers in my cabin were walking with me holding my hand(very unusual girls with autism)Ella said,"I am lactose intolerant, did you know that?" Her CIA said, "Just like me, did you know that Mama Trish?" So Ella said to her counselor, "OH, so you have autism too?" Her counselor said, "Well, no I don't." Elizabeth, another camper, pipes up in an excited voice, "You have austim? ME Too!" I t was said with the utmost amzement, like finding out that you share the same birthday with someoone.(Remeber 70% have autism this week) I bit my lip and laughed when I got inside my room unhtil I cried. Also, another camper, Piper looked in the mirror and said "When I look in the mirror, I can't help but think I am just so beautiful!" I don't know about you, but when I look in the mirror, that's not what I think. Hmm, and she's the one with the disablity? Seems like she's the one that has God's perspecitve.

Hi Trish! Thanks for sharing. It is so good to hear about what is happening at Camp. I so loved the last story you shared above - so true about God's perspective. God bless you all - praying for you - hope David is doing well. I miss him.

Allright, this is round two. I've never blogged in my life...Jessa knows her mom is not a techie...by any stretch of the imagination. So I wrote a nice long blog and lost it to the blogosphere!! Still not quite sure what to do, but this time around I am waking Kevin up to help me send it!!:)
ReplyDeleteAnyhoooo...what I really want to say is you all are an amazing bunch and you really bless the body each year by going and doing what you do at Barnabas. Each year you inspire and touch the body of Christ at LCF in a unique way that nothing else does. We want you to know we are praying for you daily as you truly offer yourselves as living sacrifices. We pray for you physically, that your bodies can withstand the heat, emotionally that you can daily demonstrate love to your campers even when it isn't maybe being returned to you in the ways your used to or perhaps not at all, and spiritually, that you will remember that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. YOU REALLY CAN!! Jesus is so pleased with your sweet service to His precious ones. Know that we all love you.
Love and Hugs to each of you,
Missy and (Kevin) Adams
P.S. Jessa, we love you so much. I promise there is a Dee-lish meal waiting for you at the end of this week! I know your love language...food! Rudy sends his wags and licks!!
